My first book grew out of conversations about one dog, Aramis, and a simple question: if you cook for your dog with good ingredients and the best intentions, how do you know you are actually getting it right?
That question led to a much larger project: research, recipe development, practical feeding guidance, and an independent veterinary review. The goal was not to turn home cooking into something complicated. It was to make the process clearer and easier to follow.

Aramis started the conversation
Aramis was Roman's Labrador. Stories about his life, his personality, and the homemade food Roman prepared for him became the starting point for a deeper look at homemade dog food.
His story is part of the reason this book exists, but it is not presented as proof that homemade food caused his health or longevity. One dog's life cannot establish that.
INDEPENDENT VETERINARY REVIEW

All 120 recipes and the non-recipe text were independently reviewed by Joseph Menicucci, DVM. Corrections from the review were processed and integrated into the book.
